Making wrong friends!

I have read words of wisdom from management gurus that making right friends is very important to grow in career. Logically the same should apply to a country as well, if it wishes to grow! But India always seems to be on the wrong side of the fence and in company of dubious friends. Now take example of Iran and Israel. India has good friendship with both. Strong defense ties with Israel and growing economic ties with Iran (the gas pipeline project!!). Iran and Israel are at loggerheads with Israel practising maneuvers in case it needs to attack Irans nuclear establishment! Now why dont Indian policy makers think in long term and foresee such situations. What will be Indias' stand in case Israel and Iran go to war? Agreed that India has always believed to be neutral, even during cold war. But being neutral does not mean creating catch 22 situations for yourself. We made strong relations with erstwhile USSR in cold war era and in doing to gave pakistan a free reign to get close to USA. We have also been tradionally good friend of pre-Taliban Afghnistan. So when USSR attacked Afghnistan, what were our policy makers doing? What was their stand? We did not go for Afghnistans help and stayed neutral and let USA and USSR fight at our door steps, which once again strengthened Pakistan-USA ties. Point is that Indian policy makers do not think in long term while making friends...they want to be close to all, but that doesnt work, you cant please everyone. To become super power we have to make strong choices NOW. Choose our loyalties clearly and stick with it. Establish supremacy in the sub-continent. Today we dont even have any clout to force a peanut country like Nepal to get back to democracy! Leave alone becoming a super power!
I just hope we have honest and viosionary people as our foreign policy makers, which will speed up our road to the super power club..else we, in the land of astrolgy will just keep counting stars for our fortunes to turn !!

The Birth Of New Blog: Behind Scenes

I though of creating another blog URL, because my personal blog URL was getting too cluttered with a variety of classified junk that my mind spewed. The technical jargon, film reviews, personal musings and philosophical bitstreams were all jostling for prime real estate on the other blog. So I thought it best to dedicate a new blog for the official rantings. My personal blog will not get affected by this! It will only reduce the clutter their and I may repeat blogs on both till both of my establishements get along well with each other and settle down!!
